The Fourth of July is just one part of the celebration this year. Hilton Head Island is marking America’s 250th anniversary with special event programming and itineraries throughout 2026, giving visitors and locals more ways to join in and celebrate. Start the morning with the Hilton Head Firecracker 5K

The Hilton Head Firecracker 5K Run and Family Fun Walk is the oldest and largest race on Hilton Head Island, as well as a long-loved Fourth of July tradition. The race begins at 8:00 am at Jarvis Creek Park and brings together runners, walkers, families, and plenty of patriotic spirit.
After the finish line, stick around for the post-race celebration, with kids’ activities, music, fresh fruit, refreshments, door prizes, and more. A portion of event proceeds benefit local charities, including The Hilton Head Rotary Club and the Hilton Head High School Cross Country Team.
Join the Fourth of July Parade in Harbour Town

Over in Harbour Town, the annual Fourth of July Parade runs from 8:30 to 10:00 am. This is one of the most charming Fourth of July traditions on Hilton Head Island. This year, Woody the Clydesdale from Lawton Stables leads the parade, with bagpipes and a barbershop quartet adding to the morning’s music.
Feel like showing off your patriotic creativity? You can decorate your bicycle, wagon, stroller, dog, or parade-ready crew for a chance to be named the most patriotic! Entrants in the parade lineup will be judged on patriotism beginning at 9:30 am. Make your way to the Quarterdeck parking lot to register and pick up decorating supplies (available for the first 100 registered participants).
Stay for the Fourth of July Carnival

After the parade, the celebration continues on the lawn in Harbour Town with the Fourth of July Carnival from 10:00 to 11:30 am.
Kids can enjoy carnival-style games, a bounce house, inflatable axe-throwing, face painting, tie-dye, a juggler, and a bubble show. There’s also a Watermelon Eating Contest on the stage under the Liberty Oak, with DJ Alan keeping the morning moving.
Woody the Clydesdale will also be on hand for a special meet-and-greet after leading the parade — you might feel a little star-struck when you spot him!
Watch Salute From The Shore from the beach

By early afternoon, the celebration shifts to the shoreline. Salute From The Shore is a Fourth of July military flyover that travels along South Carolina’s beaches, including Hilton Head Island. For 2026, fighter jets are expected to arrive near Sea Pines Beach Club around 1:30 pm.
Bring a beach chair, look toward the sky, and take a moment to salute the service members being honored. It’s a simple, powerful part of the day, and one that might just stick with you long after the celebrations come to a close.
Catch Fourth of July Concerts on Hilton Head Island
As the evening settles in, live music takes over.

Over at Shelter Cove Harbour & Marina, Shannon Tanner brings a special patriotic show to HarbourFest, with family-friendly music before the fireworks. Kids can also enjoy activities with Cappy the Clown, making this a lively evening stop before the sky lights up over the marina.
Look up for the Bald Eagle Flyover

New for America’s 250th Anniversary celebration, The Sea Pines Resort will welcome Lincoln, the Bald Eagle, for a special flyover in Harbour Town from 8:15 to 8:45 pm.
Lincoln is known for flights during the National Anthem at Philadelphia Eagles games and serves as a winged ambassador for the American Eagle Foundation. On Hilton Head Island, he’ll fly from the top of the Harbour Town Lighthouse down to the 18th green of Harbour Town Golf Links.
End the night with Fourth of July fireworks
Once evening rolls around, Hilton Head Island has two big fireworks celebrations to choose from. One takes over Shelter Cove Harbour & Marina during HarbourFest, while the other lights up the sky over the Harbour Town Lighthouse and Calibogue Sound.
HarbourFest 4th of July Fireworks at Shelter Cove Harbour & Marina

Shelter Cove Harbour & Marina hosts the HarbourFest 4th of July Fireworks celebration from 6:00 to 10:00 pm on Saturday, July 4, 2026. The event is free and open to the public, with food and drinks available for purchase.
The evening includes Shannon Tanner’s patriotic shows at 6:30 and 8:00 pm, kids’ activities with Cappy the Clown from 6:00 to 9:00 pm, and bounce houses and train rides around the promenade starting at 6:00 pm for an additional cost. American flags and paddle fans will be available while supplies last.

If you’re already spending the day in Sea Pines for the parade, carnival, Gregg Russell concert, or Bald Eagle Flyover, this is a natural place to stay through the evening.
